ABOUT US

Bob Thomasson wanted a band to play the songs that live on in everyone’s heart regardless of age, gender, or musical interest. Eight years ago he began to assemble musicians and vocalists. In the process and the journey, the group has evolved into a “new, old-fashioned” dance band.

The heart and soul of the concept has always been authenticity to the sound the original artist intended. The number one question, can you dance to it? So a group of musicians gathered and sounded good. There was music, fun, and the group got some “legs”.

Dedication, weekly practice and a plethora of song after song until one night Alison Streeter belted out Aretha Franklin’s Respect. There’s a moment when you just know you have something. After that practice, staring out the front door of 1201 North Main Street, where the group had gathered week after week, rising up from the concrete is the street sign “Sixth Street/N Main Street”. It’s a bit crooked, tilted but no doubt about what it says. Across from that sign, behind that door is where the noise was coming from, where it was conceived, where it continues to evolve. That night 6th N Main, The Band was born.

That front door has welcomed many influences and musicians who have moved through with ample talent and contributions. In the spring, with the windows open, passers-by stop and listen. You can always find a houseful of friends and family sitting on the staircase, standing in the foyer or eating in the kitchen as the music plays on. It’s a unique situation, in an unusual setting, with a remarkable group of folks.
