Michael Chafatelli | Trumpet/Vocalist
A 6th N Main dream has been realized. During Summer 2014, a much heralded horn section was added to the band. The man behind the energetic and bright sound is seasoned trumpeter Michael Chafatelli. At the youthful age of 24, Michael has been playing trumpet for 16 years. Michael founded the South Boston Brass Quartet in 2012, and plays in the Danville Symphony Orchestra.
“I’ve always felt that a good brass section was the heart and soul of any band. I believe that the addition of our brass combined with the already powerful talents of 6th N Main will make for an exciting show for all.”
In addition to playing trumpet, Micheal lends his vocal talents to 6th N Main, singing "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" and "I'm A Believer" in the current sets.
Michael joined the high school band while still in middle school, and became the section leader. Under his tutelage, the trumpets were voted “most improved” and “most musically accurate” section during his junior and senior years. The talented trumpeter was awarded the “Semper Fidelis Award for Musical Excellence” his senior year.
In addition to playing in local big bands (South Boston Jazz Band and the Starmont Swing Band), Michael has been lead or featured trumpet on the theatre stage. He made his theatrical debut in Broadway Adventure’s production of Annie. His theatre credits include, Averett College’s production of Guys n’ Dolls, Chicago, and most recently, Little Shop of Horrors. Michael is currently the Principle Trumpet in the Bedford Orchestra.
